Non-Destructive Testing of Steel Bridge

The client requested non-destructive testing of steel bridge structure. The pedestrian steel bridge is an arched truss bridge. Several floor beams and braces showed sign of significant corrosion and rusting. Some members of the floor had major structural deficiency due to extensive corrosion.

Drone Inspection

A detailed visual inspection using drone was performed on the bridge structure. The drone inspection photos and videos was used to identify the location and extent of deficiencies in the bridge structure.

NDT of Steel Bridge

FPrimeC helped the client by providing a detailed assessment of major steel components of the bridge, including the top and bottom cords, the vertical and diagonal members of the truss, and the floor beams and braces. Ultrasonic Testing (UT) was performed to assess the remaining thickness of steel elements; Magnetic Particle Testing (MT) was performed to assess the quality and integrity of the welds.
