Scope
FPrimeC Solutions Inc. was engaged by the consultant to assess the condition of leaking shotcrete walls in an underground parking garage of a condominium in downtown Toronto, Ontario. The structural system of the exterior underground walls was shotcrete and waterproofing membrane. The objective of this investigation was to evaluate the overall quality of shotcrete and identify potential anomalies across the wall.
Non-destructive Evaluation of Shotcrete Wall
Ultrasonic Pulse Echo (UPE) was incorporated to test the quality of the walls in specified locations. By taking UPE scans, we were able to estimate the thickness of the shotcrete wall, and find the depth of anomalies within the shotcrete.
This method provided a better understanding for locations of poorly casted concrete within the wall, and strategically indicated where core sampling or further repair should take place.
